For a time he was egaged in the manufacture of evaporated fruits, then entered the employ of the Proctor & Gamble Co. as salesman, stationed at Binghamton, N.Y. After his marriage to Florence Nagle they moved to Brockport, N.Y. where he became manager of a Gas and Oil Co. there. About 1933 he moved to Webster, N.Y. and was engaged in the automobile business. He entered government service Oct. 26, 1940, trained as an Ordinance Inspector at Rock Island Arsenal, IL. Dec. 12, 1940 he was assgiend as chief of Final Inspection on Army Combat Tank Contract at American Locomotive CO. at Schenectady, N.Y. and moved his family there in Nov. 1941. He tested first tanks at Army Proving Grounds at Aberdeen, MD. from Apr. 1 to June 1, then acceped after testing approximately 10,000 anks and mobile gun carriages. Feb. 16, 194 he was transferred to the Was Assets Administration as Marketing Analyst, continuing as such until Dec. 6, 1948, when he was transferred to U.S. Navy as Commodity Specialist at Navy Supply Depot at Scotia, N.Y. In 1946 he became instructor in Forest management at the College of Forestry where he was Associate Prof. of Forest Engineering.
